SUBJECT: The proposal for a solution to the Political and Social Roles of Women in the Middle East by the representatives of the states of Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Israel and Saudi Arabia in the Middle East Simulation of the United Nations Human Rights Committee on December 4, 2022 and numbered 5806/2022. As a result of the solution proposals of the states, the solution proposals of the representatives of the Saudi Arabian state are accepted.
DESCRIPTIONS
In the decision of the United Nations Human Rights Committee on the Simulation of the Middle East dated 4 December 2022 and numbered 5806/2022, it has been determined that in most of the Middle East countries, there are significant problems in the direction of the restriction of women's social, political rights and freedoms.
Namely;
Organizations such as the United Nations and the European Union should cooperate not only with governments but also with local non-governmental organizations to raise awareness in the fields of social, political, education and women's rights.
Reflection of Protests in Iran in the Middle East
In the center of the issues mentioned by the simulation states, while the protests in Iran give rise to a ray of hope for the people seeking their rights, supra-state organizations that can support these people should of course provide aid, but these aids should not be interfered with in the internal affairs of the countries in question, because these situations are for authoritarian regimes. It allows them to create a perception that they want to harm their interests. In this way, the regimes in question can legitimize a possible violence.
Changes Required by Regimes and Independent Women's Rights Organizations
The results of the protests for the peoples of the Middle East, who have been away from positive sciences, can be quite dire. Decisions have been made to provide an environment and support for the establishment of organizations that are independent from the civil state organizations of the mentioned regimes, prioritize women's rights and provide the necessary support in positive sciences. First of all, these independent women's rights organizations should be included in the constitutions in such a way that gender, age, health status, minority status, disability, being an immigrant or asylum seeker, sexual orientation and gender identity cannot be discriminated against. Independent courts should be established where women can freely seek their rights, and the meaningful participation of independent women's organizations in legislative and executive processes concerning women's rights is ensured. In order to eliminate discrimination against women, gender-based roles, prejudices and traditions need to be transformed. It is to ensure that the regimes change their approach to violence against women and their policies in this area with this perspective.
The Effect of Media Organs on Women's Rights
Guides and guides for the media to transform the language that legitimizes sexist and discrimination against women are provided by the representatives of non-governmental organizations and international organizations, the United Nations, the European Union, etc. Such is the preparation with his participation. It is mandatory and unchangeable for the media to act in accordance with the said guides and guidelines. In addition, women's rights are fully explained and implemented by public institutions, international organizations and the media.
Resolution of the United Nations Human Rights Committee
Syria, Israel, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Iraq, which are among the Middle Eastern States that have shown their presence in the simulation, have focused on the basic women's rights problems in the Middle East and offered solutions in line with the rise of the Protests in Iran, in the jury of the United Nations.
CONCLUSION AND REQUEST: Considering the issues included in the United Nations Committee's Simulation of Women's Rights in the Middle East; A consensus was reached in the proposals of the representatives of Saudi Arabia.
